Advanced Public Speaking
Three successful Public Speaking Workshops were delivered since the summer for local and social activists, on the campus of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA, with participants from across the country. The workshops were developed and delivered by Samuel (Mooly) Dinnar and founding artistic director of Shakespeare & Company Tina Packer. The advanced workshop is scheduled for December 2017.
As a participant, you learn to speak in front of any size audience and move them with your words.
• Free your natural voice
• Understand the basics of speech construction
• Tap into your truth
• Connect and understand your audience
• Focus your message
• Persuade an audience of the validity of your message
• Inspire your audience to act

This weekend workshop is designed to meet the needs of community, local, social and other activists who seek to improve their skills and confidence in connecting to an audience and delivering their message. It includes knowledge gained from Shakespeare & Company’s experience of embodying the text of a great speech. Participants have the opportunity to work on improving the alignment between their personal voice and who they are as a person. Each participant comes in with a message that is intended to move a certain audience to action, and has the opportunity to improve this message using the lessons learned from great speeches. Participants taste the experience of speaking with “the whole of who they are” and gain the tools they can use to further develop.

Tina Packer is the founding artistic director of Shakespeare & Company. Packer has directed, acted, and taught both Shakespeare and theater performance at Shakespeare & Company as well as at over thirty colleges around the globe including Harvard, MIT, Columbia and NYU. She is a social entrepreneur, actor, playwright, author and a recipient of the state of Massachusetts’s highest honor, the Commonwealth Award.
